Staying organized can be tough. Life gets crazy and all of a sudden you feel overwhelmed. Guys, we know the feeling and we’re sure you do too. In order to be successful, you need to have a system. We’ve learned the hard way that you can really mess things up if you don’t have your sh*t together. Working in the digital realm, things are anything but normal. That’s why we try to stay super organized to ensure nothing falls through the cracks. We decided to roundup our top five tips to stay more organized. Some of these tips may seem like no-brainers, but we really do these things on a daily basis. All of these tips help keep us accountable and on track.

5 TIPS TO STAY MORE ORGANIZED

Use a Planner

This is the most important thing we use. Our planner is literally our lifeline. As much as we love anything digital, there’s something about actually writing things down. Our planner helps us keep track of projects, to-do lists, and so much more. We love being able to cross things off once they are completed. Honestly, it’s kind of cathartic. We also use Google calendar. We love being able to use the app on the go. This is the perfect way to stay on top of things without pulling out our planner. Both of these combined help us stay organized on a daily basis.

Utilize Reminders

We both love using the Reminders app on our iPhones. If you have a different phone, we’re sure there is something similar. We literally use this app every single day. If we think of something while out, we simply pull out our phones and ask Siri to remind us. We use it more often that we should probably admit! This is the easiest way to make sure you don’t forget that super important thing you just told yourself. Face it, you never actually remember it on your own. You can even set the reminder for a specific day, time, and even make it recurring. This is the perfect way to make sure nothing falls through the cracks!

Set Deadlines and Goals

It’s important to keep the fire lit beneath you. Basically, don’t become lazy! Setting a goal or a deadline for yourself ensures you are managing your time effectively. You don’t want to procrastinate or fall behind on important work. That’s why doing this is vital. Setting goals helps keep you on track. We like to set small goals that lead to a greater goal. If we have one huge goal that we are reaching for, we will break that down into more manageable hurdles. This helps make things more achievable. If you wanted to run a marathon, you wouldn’t start training by running 26.2 miles. You would first start by running one mile then increase from there. This makes it much easier to wrap your mind around the idea of running the entire distance. This is the same way you should treat your personal, work, and financial goals. The best way to start? Write it down. Grab a notebook and jot down what you are trying to achieve. It makes things much easier when you can see it on paper.

Create a Workspace

This is our biggest piece of advice. It is so important to have a workspace that you love. Spend some time thinking about what that means to you. Combine functionality with design. We have a home office that doubles as our guest room. It is very much still a work in progress but it definitely serves the purpose currently. We’ve added decor pieces, good lighting, and office furniture to help create a warm and inviting space. We also do a lot of work in our living/dining space. We’ve also created functionality in these areas of our home. All of which help give us options when we need to work. It’s all about creating a space (or spaces) that makes you happy. This will increase productivity and keep you organized.

Adequate Sleep and Nutrition

This is something that you might not have thought of before. Adequate sleep and nutrition are key to staying organized. You need to make sure you are fueling your body with the nutrients it needs. Guys, we hear ya. We love pizza just as much as you do. But eating a balanced diet helps keep you clear-headed and energized. That leads to being more productive and organized. That goes for your sleeping habits too! We’ve all stayed up late before and tried to work the next day. That doesn’t always work out very well. Proper sleep keeps you focused and ready to take on the day. When sleep and nutrition are out of whack, your organization will be just the same. Get some rest tonight and start tomorrow morning with a healthy breakfast. You’ll be on your way to being a boss!

Until next time…
