FUELING UP ON THE GO

So we’ve been talking about protein a lot recently. If you remember, we broke down protein and the ways we consume it since we don’t eat meat in a recent blog post. Long story short, we’ve been pescatarian for over 3 years — though you most likely already know this. Nonetheless, protein is always that one topic we get asked about when it comes to health.

Over the last few months, we’ve really tried to get consistent with working out. That means we had to think about how much protein we were consuming on a daily basis. Like we mentioned in that recent blog post, you can get protein from a ton of different sources. But when it comes to post-workout, we love the convenience of plant-based protein powder. It allows us to immediately replenish our body with a ton of good ingredients.

We’ve tried a ton of different protein powders since changing our diet. Honestly, when you walk down the aisle at the grocery store, it can be a bit overwhelming when you see all of the options. But over the last few months, we’ve been consistently using Biochem’s Plant Protein Powders. We were initially drawn to this brand for several reasons. We’re all about sustainability because…duh! These protein powders have 20 grams of sustainable protein per serving. They are also non-GMO tested. Honestly, all of this makes a big difference to us. Oh, and it even has organic coffee fruit caffeine so we get a little boost of energy! The main way we use this protein powder is in a blender bottle. For us, we want to make things as easy as possible. We mix one scoop with almond milk and shake it up!

Fun fact for you — plant protein is actually more easily digested than other protein sources, making it more readily available for your body to use.  Plus, they are just better all around since it doesn’t involve any animal byproducts to produce. This means it’s hypoallergenic so your body won’t react negatively. We also love that it’s free of soy, gluten, and sugar. All of this really does make a huge difference to us.

We’re actually trying to get even more creative with how we consume protein powders. We’re thinking about coming up with some yummy recipes. Maybe a protein-packed breakfast bar or even a healthy dessert?? Stay tuned for that!
