We have a serious obsession with sweet potatoes. But you already know this if you follow us on Instagram. We bake sweet potatoes at least two to three times a week. We actually made a bunch for the plane ride to California this week! Since we are constantly making these bad boys, we figured it was time to share the recipe for the perfect sweet potato wedges.
We keep things pretty simple with this recipe. We like to keep the skin on the sweet potatoes. Most people think they should peel the potatoes and discard the skin. NO WAY. There are so many nutrients in the skin — potassium and fiber just to name a few. Plus, it makes them super crispy!
The first thing you’ll want to do is scrub the potatoes. Since the skin is staying on, you want to wash away any dirt. We also like to cut off any rough pieces of the potato — you’ll know what a rough piece looks like when you see it. Next, you’ll want to cut up the potatoes. We prefer long wedges but you can do just about anything. You’ll also want to preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Once the potatoes are cut, it’s time for the good stuff. We either use organic coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil — it depends on what we have on hand. You want to use enough oil to coat the potatoes but be sure you don’t soak them with oil. Using a small amount of oil gives you a really crispy outside!
Once the oil is on, it’s time for the flavor! We use black salt, pepper, and Everything but the Bagel seasoning from Trader Joe’s. Guys, this is the secret weapon! We are obsessed with this seasoning. We use it on just about everything. It adds so much flavor to the potatoes. Once the potatoes are evenly coated with the oil and seasoning, it’s time to bake. We bake the potatoes for 20 minutes then turn them over and bake for another 10 minutes. This way they will come out super crispy!
Guys, these sweet potatoes are no joke. As we are writing this post, we are talking about making more today. We seriously can’t get enough. Plus, they take hardly any time at all.

Organic Coconut Oil
Everything but the Bagel Seasoning – found at Trader Joe’s
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Wash off any dirt from potatoes then cut off rough pieces. Slice into long wedges. Coat the potatoes with oil but be sure you don’t soak them. You want to use just enough for an even coat. Season with black salt, pepper, and Everything but the Bagel seasoning. Bake for 20 minutes then turn over and bake for another 10 minutes.
