Alright, it’s time for round 3 of our series on whether or not the steps in a skin care routine are necessary. For a quick refresher, we started out with cleanser. Spoiler alert: the answer is yes, it is very necessary. After that, we talked about toner. Now, this week it’s all about the eyes. Obviously, we take skin care very seriously. But when it comes to our eyes, we really get serious. This is the one area that shows the signs of aging first. From fine lines to wrinkles, your eyes can really show your age. That’s why it is so important to get serious about what eye product you’re using.
First things first, the skin around your eye is super sensitive and thin. It’s actually 40 percent thinner and it’s also the least elastic part of your face. That means it doesn’t have any bounce back. You need to make sure you are gentle when applying the product. You always want to use your ring finger since that will apply the least amount of pressure. With your ring finger, you should pat the product into your skin. Don’t ever drag or pull. That can cause premature wrinkles — you definitely don’t want that.
Another fun fact: the skin around the eye loses moisture 50% faster than the rest of your face. Since the skin is so thin and delicate, you don’t see any dry patches. This is why eye cream is so important. You need to be using a super hydrating eye cream to help combat dryness.
When it comes to what you’re using, the options are nearly endless. We like to switch things up to maximize the benefits. That means we use different eye creams throughout the week depending on our needs. If you don’t know where to start, no worries. Think about these three main factors — hydration, anti-aging, and brightening. Most everyone wants to tackle those concerns. This is a good place to start. As far as the frequency of use, you want to be using eye cream morning and night. You don’t want to skip any days. If you are consistent, you can really see a huge improvement in a relatively short period of time.
