It’s the first Monday in 2022. Where has the time gone? It feels like these past two years have been a fever dream since COVID first arrived. As we enter this new year, we wanted to do what we always do — sit down and reflect. A lot happened in 2021. We had many ups and many downs. But we made it. That’s a victory in itself.
We always sit down and write out what we want to do in the new year. Business goals, personal goals, you name it. But instead of sharing those with you, we thought it would be better to talk about our overall mindset for 2022. We learned a lot about ourselves last year. Even more about our relationship. We’ve been together for 8 years but things still come up. Especially when you’re faced with everything the world has thrown at us lately.
Mindfulness. It sounds intimidating at first but when you take the time to think about what it really means, it’s a lot more approachable. Essentially it’s the practice of being self-aware and present in each moment. There is a meditation aspect of it too. But just the idea of being present in each moment is something we’ve been working on a lot lately. There has been so much negativity and darkness this past year. Pain, loss, the list goes on and on. It can be easy to get wrapped up in all that. In turn, this makes our anxiety go up and overall happiness go down — it’s a vicious cycle. This is why we are trying hard to take this mindfulness mentality up a notch in 2022. Learning to be present in each moment and realize that those moments are gifts. Nothing is permanent. It also goes into the motto we share with you all the time — make every moment an experience. We kind of feel like it all feeds off each other if that makes sense? The idea of being present, grateful, and aware. Even if we are feeling sad or upset, taking those feelings in and sitting with them. Maybe that’s something we should clarify. This isn’t the idea of constantly being positive. That’s impossible and not human lol. Rather, being aware of how we are feeling and learning from each moment. Does this all make sense to you? Maybe we are rambling but it feels good to chat this out together. This really is something we are working hard on each day and hopefully you will too. We’ve all been through a lot and each step forward is a victory. Hope you are starting the new year off on a good note. Sending you love! xo
I think it makes sense but I’m also a bit confused whenever it comes to mindfulness lol. I don’t think I’m very good at it because I’m always focused on the future rather than the present. I sometime (often?) miss the little things in life and it makes me sad. My son is about to turn two and I feel like the first two years of his life just flew by.
We totally understand! We struggle with being present too. But it’s something we are really trying to work on this year. It’s so easy to focus on the future but then we miss so much of what’s right in front of us. Just take it one day at a time. Journaling is another great way to be present. Try sitting down each night and writing down all of the wonderful things that happened in the day. It can bring you back to those moments.
Abstraction In french : vivre pleinement le moment présent 😘
